AIG Group needed a modern platform to calculate and analyze Effective Interest Rate (EIR) values across a large loan portfolio — more than 1.2 million loan records, each potentially subject to different financial scenarios and business conditions. Existing processes struggled to handle that complexity and scale efficiently.
EIR calculations are straightforward only in ideal scenarios. Real-world portfolios are not ideal — the platform had to handle active, pending, delinquent and overdue loans, partial repayments, write-offs, settlements and multiple repayment structures, right up to portfolio-level analysis — all against a dataset of 1.2 million-plus records. The brief: accuracy and performance, at scale.
Tibura worked closely with stakeholders to map the financial scenarios that influence EIR — the full loan lifecycle, repayment conditions, delinquency handling, write-off and settlement rules — alongside a careful data assessment (portfolio structures, historical transaction patterns, dependencies and performance) and rigorous calculation validation against the financial models and regulatory expectations.
The strategic decision was architectural: rather than bury calculations in the UI or the database reporting layer, Tibura built a dedicated financial calculation engine optimized for accuracy, high-volume processing, scenario flexibility, performance and clear visualization.
